As you know, I believe in changing the routine and offering my preschoolers variety so they don’t think they are doing the same activities. This FREE Christmas Cars and Glue activity does just that, offering the children an activity that is not as traditional as ornaments and trees, but still allows them to work on essential skills such as:
- Visual discrimination.
- Concentration.
- One-to-one correspondence.
- Eye-hand coordination.
- Fine motor skills.

This FREE Christmas Cars Cut and Glue activity includes three pages with six squares each, one with a car and another without, and two more pages with matching cars. To get the printable, type your information at the bottom of this post for an immediate download.
How to Prepare and Use the Christmas Cars Cut and Glue Activity
This Christmas Cars Cut and Glue activity requires little prep time and effort. These are the materials you are going to need:
- FREE Christmas Cars Cut and Glue activity (found at the end of this post).
- Printer.
- White paper or cardstock.
- Glue or glue sticks.
- Scissors.
- Optional: laminator and laminator pouches.
Print the pages on regular white paper for single use. If you want to use it multiple times, print out all the pages on white cardstock, cut out the single squares with cars, and laminate everything.

This activity can be used in many ways, such as:
- Small group activity.
- Math center option.
- Take-home game.
- Quiet area option.
It can be done in just a few steps, and it offers many educational benefits for your children. These are the steps to follow:
- Give the child the pages.
- Have the child cut one car square, find the matching picture on the mat, and glue it next to it.
- The child must do the same with every square until he or she finishes all the mats.

If you intend to use this activity multiple times, the children must match the cut-out cars and place them next to similar cars on the laminated mats. The downside of this option is that your children will not receive the extra fine-motor practice that cutting and gluing provide, which is another intention of this printable.
Additional Suggestions
When glue and cutting are involved, you should sit with your children in a small group setting to supervise their use of glue and scissors closely, if you don’t want to clean a huge mess or deal with an angry parent because a child cut their precious daughter’s hair.
If your preschoolers don’t have much practice using glue bottles, you can always let them use glue sticks. They will do the same function without the mess, and it will give them the practice they need to handle glue bottles better.
Christmas Storybooks
I know I sound like a broken record, but reading stories to your children is so vital that the lack of this practice will prevent your children from developing essential skills to their full potential, such as language, vocabulary, imagination, reading, and writing, among others.
You should always add books related to your theme or season to your library, book baskets, and centers. Here are some suggestions for good books to use during Christmas. You can find them all at your local library, used bookstores, and Amazon.
If you would like to add some to your collection permanently, you can click on the titles to go directly to Amazon through my links.
- All I Want for Christmas Is Ewe by Ross Rossner combines beautiful illustrations, charming animal puns, and the evergreen message of love. This book is a marvelous way to celebrate the season and share your love for each other.
- ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on the Farm by Craig Manning. In this Christmas picture book for kids, readers will love sharing in the excitement as Santa Claus arrives in this charming twist on the classic holiday story, filled with sweet farm animals, delightful rhymes, and beautiful illustrations.
- The Christmas Wish by Lori Ever. Long ago, a brave little girl named Anja wanted to be one of Santa’s elves. So, she leaves a note for her family and helps her elderly neighbor prepare for the holiday. Then, she straps on her skis and heads out into the snowy landscape. A generous trim size, matte cover, extraordinary photographs, and foiled title make this a special book for the holiday season.
- Little Red Sleigh by Erin Guendelsberger. This heartwarming book is full of winter joy and Christmas magic and will remind you and your kids that no dream is out of reach if you believe.
- The Littest Christmas Tree by R. A. Herman. There are only five days until Christmas, and the Littlest Christmas Tree is still waiting for a home. On Christmas Eve, his wish comes true when the man who runs the Christmas tree stand takes it home to his family.
- A Silly Milly Christmas by Sheri Wall. With plenty of rhyming and repetition, this book is perfect for reading aloud, early learning, and animal lovers everywhere.
