Benefits of the Bunny Carrots Counting Activity

This activity will allow preschoolers to practice their:

  • Counting abilities (counting the carrots).
  • Hand-eye coordination and control (placing the number tags in the bunnies).
  • Concentration skills (focusing on the different tasks).
  • One-to-one correspondence (the number tags in the correct bunnies).
  • Language development (counting out loud).

Setting Up the Bunny Carrots Counting Activity

Print each page using white cardstockCut out the cards and tags, and laminate them for durability.  When you are done using the activity, store it on a sheet protector placed in a binder, to keep the activity safe.

I always recommend printing out multiple copies and placing them in different centers.  That way you will entice and encourage more preschoolers to use them when they rotate to the different centers.

How to Use the Bunny Carrots Counting Activity

This activity can be used in many ways such as:

  • Small group activity
  • Math center option
  • Take home game
  • Quiet area option

Before you place the activity in the different centers it is recommended to introduce it to your preschoolers first.  Circle time might be the perfect time to do this.  There is no point in placing them in centers if they don’t know how to use them first.

Explain that they have to count out loud each carrot on the counting cards and place the tag with the correct number on the bunny’s belly.  This printable comes with 11 pages with two cards each and a page with the tags, with the numbers 0 to 20.

Storybooks About Bunnies

This activity gives you the perfect opportunity to read storybooks related to bunnies, which is also a very appropriate type of storybook for Easter or spring.  Remember that reading to your preschoolers allows them to get involved in the theme, expand their vocabulary, and work on their pre-reading and pre-writing skills, among other benefits.

These are some fun books you can use. You can find them at your local library, used book store, or on Amazon.  Clicking on each title will take you directly to Amazon through my affiliate links, to save you time looking for them.
