Other Ways to Use These Zoo Calendar Numbers
These Zoo Calendar Numbers can be used as part of your linear and traditional classroom calendar this month or as part of your Zoo Animals theme. They are also very useful for preschoolers to practice several skills such as:
- Number Sequence – Have your preschoolers practice their number sequence, by inviting them to organize the numbers from 1 to 31 in ascending form. Once they know how to do this, challenge them to do it in descending form.
- Number Formation / Fine Motor – Have them practice tracing the numbers using dry-erase markers.
- Memory and Concentration – Print two sets and use them as a matching game.
- Writing / Fine Motor – Have them use the numbers as visual cues in the sensory writing tray.
- One-to-One Correspondence, Counting, and Matching – Have them look at a number, and count small manipulatives like buttons, counting chips, pom poms, mini zoo animals, and mini erasers, to match it with. You can also have them match the number on the card with magnetic numbers.
- Addition and Subtraction – Use them to do simple addition and subtraction exercises.
- Use them as a send-home activity, and add them to your Math, Writing, and Quiet Centers.
How to Prep the Zoo Calendar Numbers
These easy-to-prep calendar numbers only need a printer, white cardstock, scissors, a laminator, and laminating sheets to get them ready.
However, if you want to use them for the activities I suggested above as well, you will need additional materials such as buttons, counting chips, pom poms, mini zoo animals, mini erasers, pencils, crayons, markers, sand, magnetic numbers, dry-erase markers.
