If you need some fun math activities to do with your preschoolers on Father’s Day week, these FREE Father’s Day Count and Clip Cards will make a nice addition to your lesson plans.
Add this to your Father’s Day activities to make practicing counting to 10 a fun experience! You’ll need a few minutes to prepare this low-prep activity, and then have your preschoolers play and learn!

This Father’s Day Count and Clip Cards pack contains five sheets with six cards each, totaling 30 cards. You can get it at the end of this post.
Importance of Counting and Recognizing Numbers
Learning how to count is a crucial step in children’s cognitive development, enabling them to develop more complex numerical processing over time. Counting includes other skills, such as recognizing number words and symbols, number word sequences, and enumeration. Since knowing how to count to 10 is an abstract concept based on memorization, working on number recognition early will help children build their critical thinking skills and their confidence.
In addition, using counting to combine and separate groups of objects will help them develop other math skills, such as addition, subtraction, estimation, calculation, and solving mathematical problems in the future.
Father’s Day Count and Clip Cards
To prepare this low-prep activity, download the file at the end of this post, print the pages on white cardstock, cut out the cards, and laminate them for durability. Then, give a child the cards and clothespins. The child needs to count the objects in each card and place the clothespin on top of the correct number.
These Father’s Day Count and Clip Cards can be used in many ways, such as:
- Small group activity
- Math center option
- Take-home game
- Quiet area option
